Picture This: PhotoStory for Beginners

Presenter: Missy Lewis

Date: August 18, 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Carolina Forest High Lab A101

Description:  The “digital natives” of the 21st century get very restless when they cannot use their tech tools whenever they want, especially after the summer break.  They seem to get more restless when assigned to use pencil and paper to complete some task; thus, the products can be lifeless and contrived.  This “digital immigrant” also seems to get a little restless when she has to grade 120 essays at a time, some of which are all but illegible.  Using Photo Story 3, students can develop and showcase their comprehension of literary works and their creativity in personal and analytical writing.  This session will give instructions for creating Photo Story 3 stories and share samples lessons for using Photo Story and assessment resources for assessing the students’ project.

Handouts: Session participants will receive handouts detailing steps for creating Photo Stories, lesson plan suggestions, and assessment resources.

Materials Necessary/Prerequisite Materials: Access to 5 pictures or images

I had to be Missy's worst student and she was so-o-o-o-o patient! I want to complete this to use in class!

As usual Modest Missy makes all of us feel comfortable in her sessions with her comment - "If I can do this, anybody can do it!" She made it easy for us to follow along with the step-by-step directions with pictures for those of us who are visual learners! Oh, yeah, I can see my students benefitting from this session!
