Edmodo: Facebook for the Classroom

Presenter: Kay Sellers

Date: August 18, 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Location: Carolina Forest High Lab C101

Description of Session: Edmodo is a free social networking tool designed especially for educators with a similar interface to Facebook except that you can control ALL information posted by a student. You can set up online discussion boards, post videos, post assignments, and basically create an online interactive classroom. In this session, you will receive instruction on how to create and use your Edmodo page.

Handouts: I will make a handout that will describe the process of setting up the page and explain how to post files, videos, and polls.

This is a neat site for students to interact with one another and the teacher. It also seems like something that students would enjoy since it is so much like facebook. :)

I am excited about using this feature. It was explained so that even an old, technology-challenged person could follow and keep up.
